Water Rescue

A WordPress plugin that automates the entire job-posting pipeline — integrated AI, payment and emailing, GDPR-compliant.

Water Rescue project visual

Context

Final-year Bachelor's project: designing and developing a standalone WordPress plugin for an organisation in the water-rescue sector, automating the entire job-posting process — from submission through to publication on social media.

The challenge

Job postings relied on a manual chain: intake, formatting, publishing on the site then on each network, notifying candidates. Time-consuming, error-prone and impossible to scale.

My role

Project manager and developer: needs analysis, journey design, choice of integrations, PHP development of the plugin and GDPR compliance.

Objectives

  1. 01

Automate the full chain: submission, validation, multichannel publishing

  2. 02

Integrate AI (Mistral AI) to format and optimise the listings

  3. 03

Monetise posting through integrated payment (Stripe)

  4. 04

Automatically notify candidates via emailing (Campaign Monitor)

  5. 05

Guarantee GDPR compliance from end to end

Method

A product approach: mapping the existing manual process, identifying automatable steps, designing the target journey, then iterative development — each integration (AI, payment, emailing) validated in isolation before assembly.

  1. 01

    Process analysis

Mapping the existing manual chain, identifying friction points and the steps with the highest automation value.

  2. 02

    Design

Defining the target journey (submission → validation → payment → publishing → notification) and choosing the services: Mistral AI, Stripe, Campaign Monitor.

  3. 03

    Development

Iterative PHP development of the plugin: the core workflow first, then integrating the external services one by one, with testing at every step.

  4. 04

    GDPR compliance

Auditing the data collected, implementing consent, data minimisation and retention rules.

Challenges & solutions

Getting three external services (AI, payment, emailing) to work together in one seamless flow

SolutionA decoupled, step-based architecture: each integration tested in isolation, with error handling at every link so an external outage never blocks the whole chain.

Reconciling automation with GDPR compliance

SolutionCompliance built in from the start (privacy by design): explicit consent, minimal data, defined retention periods — rather than bolted on afterwards.

Tools

  • PHP
  • WordPress
  • Mistral AI
  • Stripe
  • Campaign Monitor

Skills developed

Needs analysis · Journey design · WordPress development · API integration · GDPR compliance · Automation

Results

  • Standalone plugin covering the whole chain, from submission to social publishing

  • AI-assisted listing writing, natively integrated into the flow

  • Operational online payment via Stripe

  • Automated email distribution via Campaign Monitor

  • GDPR-compliant data processing (consent, minimisation, retention periods)

What I took away

This project reflects a conviction of mine: well-designed automation frees up precious time, provided it's built like a product — with a clear journey, safeguards and respect for users. Exactly the kind of bridge between the technical and the business that I want to build as a project manager.
